OpenAI’s powerful Large Language Model (LLM), known as ChatGPT, has taken the world by storm, with millions and millions using the AI chatbot in endless creative ways. How do you log into ChatGPT? If you go to ChatGPT.com, you find some random website not associated with ChatGPT, and OpenAI.com won’t get you there either! In this article, we will provide you with clear Chat GPT login instructions on a variety of platforms.
To login to ChatGPT directly, head to this link at OpenAI which will ask you to login to ChatGPT, it is the direct link. Additionally, you can now also download ChatGPT apps for iOS and Android phones, but these can also be hard to find in the app stores due to a flood of copies!
In this article, we’ll explain how to login and setup an account to allow you to use ChatGPT, and provide links and explanations on how to download the apps on your phone.
Chat GPT Login
As mentioned above, you want to use this link to OpenAI.com to log onto ChatGPT. You’ll see a login screen that should look much like this:
If you’ve already set up an account, click the Log in button and proceed through the sign in prompts, which should look similar to the form shown here:
Enter your email address and password and press the Continue button, or if you signed in through a Gmail account, Microsoft account, or Apple account, click the buttons below (these are generally more secure and much easier to use, assuming you’ve got an account with one of these megacorps already!).
Once you’ve logged in, you will be able to chat with ChatGPT, you’re good to go!
How to Setup a ChatGPT Account
To setup an account, click on the Sign Up button at the OpenAI Chat link.
You can create an account manually by entering an email address and creating a password. If you go this route, you will likely need to accept a confirmation email in the email account you used to sign up, so be sure you’re logged into that email account as well.
That said, it’s often much easier to use the “Continue with Google” button or “Continue with Apple” button, that will log you in based on your existing gmail or apple email address.
You may still need to enter a password, but this is much easier to keep track of than endless accounts and passwords on various websites. Plus, this means there are fewer changes for malicious hackers to get in and get your password.
The ChatGPT Apps: iOS and Android Apps
If you’re using ChatGPT on your phone, you can simply download the native app and skip going to the website altogether.
However, one thing to note is that because there is such a goldrush in AI apps in the app stores, it can be challenging to find the correct app!
Here they are:
ChatGPT iOS App
The official OpenAI ChatGPT iOS App can be found here.
ChatGPT Android App
The official OpenAI ChatGPT Android App can be found here.
A Quick Primer on ChatGPT
Once you’ve gotten access to ChatGPT, you’ll see a text box ready to go. If you have ChatGPT Plus, you’ll be able to choose from GPT 3.5 and GPT 4 (with plugins, code interpreter, etc.). If you haven’t tried ChatGPT Plus, it really is worth trying for a month or two — it’s much more powerful at doing difficult tasks like coding, data analysis, scraping websites, etc.
We’ve written several guides to give you some ideas of what you can do with ChatGPT, here are a few of them:

Final Words
You now have everything you need to log in and/or setup your account to use ChatGPT. Once again, the official login link at OpenAI is chat.openai.com — no GPT in the URL. It’s a bit confusing, but that’s how they’ve done it for the moment.
Good luck, and make something cool with ChatGPT!
